About our work

What is cardiac electrophysiology?

Cardiac electrophysiology (EP) is the branch of cardiology focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing disorders of the heart's electrical system. Electrophysiologists care for patients with conditions such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular arrhythmias, and conduction disorders, using treatments that range from medications to catheter ablation and implantable cardiac devices. This lab combines high-volume clinical care with cutting-edge research to advance the management of heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and ablation.

Signature Research Programs

From Discovery to Patient Care

As a translational research program, our goal is to ensure that scientific discoveries lead to meaningful improvements in patient care. Through clinical trials, outcomes research, and the evaluation of novel therapies, we work to improve treatment strategies, expand access to specialty care, and enhance outcomes for patients with heart rhythm disorders.

From Data to Discovery

The Keepin’ Rhythm Lab leverages large-scale clinical datasets, primarily the ITHACA Database, to identify patterns, evaluate treatment outcomes, and generate evidence that advances the field of cardiac electrophysiology. By integrating real-world data with emerging analytical tools, we uncover insights that inform future research and clinical practice regarding cases of ablation and atrial fibrillation.
